Executive Condominium (EC) is a class of hybrid housing in Singapore, designed for the sandwiched class. Developed and sold by private developers, ECs come complete with architectural design, security and facilities parallel to that of private condominiums. Being a hybrid property class, EC is subject to Housing Development Board (HDB) restrictions on ownership rules and minimum occupation period (MOP) . EC is very popular when the price between mass market condominiums and regular HDB flats widen. With EC being priced lower than the neighbouring private condominiums, HDB upgraders and first-time homebuyers will be encouraged to own a "semi-private" property at a concession rate. |
